Maxine M Fann

Maxine M. Fann, aged 95, of Elkmont, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7th, 2025, at Athens Limestone Hospital. She was born on September 17th, 1929, in Phil Campbell, Alabama, to loving parents Arthur T. McDougle and Ella Mae Swinney McDougle. Maxine was a beloved aunt and friend, cherished by her family for her kindness and warmth. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Jack Cooper (Barbara), Paul McDougle (Faye), Frieda Marshall, Pat Hardiman (Anthony), Johnny McDougle (Teresa), Debbie McDougle, and Lila Mae McDougle. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Ann Brazelton, as well as numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband Charles Fann, her brothers Thomas Lexter McDougle and Athens McDougle, and her sisters Dean George and Mae Della Cooper. Funeral services to honor Mrs. Fann's life will be held on Thursday, July 10th, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Gary Anderson. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation prior to the service, from 1:00 to 1:50 PM at the funeral home. Following the service, Maxine will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery. Our Aunt Maxine was tall and beautiful with black hair and blue eyes. In her early life she was a cheerleader for the Phil Campbell Bobcats. After graduating she moved to Huntsville to work at General Shoe where she met and married the love of her life, Charles Fann. He was handsome and charming; they were a perfect match. Life eventually took them to Lawrenceville, Georgia. There she was the office manager for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company until she retired and moved to Elkmont in 1996 for her remaining years. In their spare time Aunt Maxine and Uncle Charles enjoyed co-ed bowling earning many trophies. They looked like movie stars as they glided across the dance floor with their smooth moves. We will always remember her as beautiful inside and out. Mrs. Fann was a dedicated member of the Northside Church of Christ for 25 years, where she was known for her unwavering faith and commitment to her community. Maxine M. Fann will be remembered for her generous spirit and the love she shared with everyone around her. Her legacy of kindness and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.
