Mr. Van ONeal Abernathy, Jr. (Jr. Abernathy) Age 77 The funeral for: Van ONeal "Junior" Abernathy, Jr.of Elkmont, AL. will be held at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Steve Abernathy and Bud White officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., also at Limestone Chapel, with interment in Pettusville Cemetery. Mr. Abernathy passed away on April 18, 2010 at his home in Elkmont, AL. Mr. Abernathy was born on April 19, 1932 to Van ONeal Abernathy, Sr. and Lurleen Browning Abernathy in Athens, AL. Mr. Abernathy worked as a painter for a Maintenance Contractor before retiring. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Abernathy was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Justine Wray Abernathy.The family wishes to thank Hospice of Limestone County and caregivers: Dena Haislep, Becky Ball, Candace Amonso, Doris McCuskey. He is survived by daughters: Kimberly Abernathy Pettie and husband, Phillip of Athens, AL, Kellie Abernathy of Athens, AL. Brothers: Billy Abernathy and wife, Shirley of Athens, AL, Willard Abernathy and wife, Jeanette of Athens, AL, Kenneth Abernathy and wife, Ann of Columbia, S.C. Grandchildren: Chris Bolton, Chad Barton, Matt Pettie, Great Grandchildren: Destyne Bolton, Madison Barton, several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers: Timmy Abernathy, Steve Abernathy, Jason Abernathy, Jerry Lawler, Phillip Lawler, Josh Hall, Adam Hall.
