Douglas Vernon McMunn

Douglas Vernon McMunn 82 of Athens, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 in Red Bay, AL. Mr. McMunn was born in 1930 in Limestone County, AL to Matthew McMunn and Flossie Johnson McMunn. Graveside services will be Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in Roselawn Cemetery with Grover Gardner officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:50 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. McMunn was a former member of the Decatur, AL National Guard A Company. He also saw active duty as a Sergeant in the 10th Corp of the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952. Preceded in death by one brother, Dewey McMunn; sister, Julia Faye Chambers. Survived by his wife, Gaynell McMunn of Athens; son, Don McMunn and wife, Linda of Pleasant View. TN; 2 granddaughters; 3 great-grandchildren of TN; two brothers, Matthew McMunn, Jr. of Decatur, AL and Richard McMunn of Margaret, AL; two sisters, Lois Black of Jasper, AL and Mary Bundick of Madison, TN.
