Birdie Gayle Woodward Ball

August 16, 1936 - February 7, 2022

Birdie Gayle Woodward Ball, 85 of Athens, passed away on Monday, February 7th, 2022, at her residence. Mrs. Ball was born on August 16th, 1936, to Bertius Clarence and Katharyn Eugenia Sims Trousdale. Mrs. Ball is survived by her children Phyllis Woodward Lomax (Curtis) of Athens and Jimmy Woodward (Joy) of Athens; grandchildren Amanda Lomax Ciampa (Brian) of Springhill, TN, Amy Lomax Sides (Chris) of Athens, Trey Woodward (Courtney) of Madison, Jami Woodward Spain of Huntsville, Maddi Woodward of Athens, Connor Woodward of Athens, and Lela Ball of Athens; great-grandchildren Braden, Abby, Cora, Elsie Jo, and Cassadi; brother Crutcher Trousdale; sister Martha Easter; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husbands James Lee Woodward and Benton Ball; and great-grandchildren Hazen Glenn Sides and Julia Gayle Sides. Funeral services for Mrs. Ball will be Thursday, February 10th, 2022, at 2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00-1:50pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Athens City Cemetery. Mrs. Ball dearly loved her family. She enjoyed cooking and having family and friends over. She liked reading, her birds, and flowers. She was a member of Oakland Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Athens Bible School or Hospice of Limestone County.
