Stacy Marie Wolfe

Stacy Marie Wolfe, age 48, met Jesus face to face on February 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Stacy was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 10, 1975, to Mike and Jackie Nolen. She was the oldest of four daughters: the responsible, outspoken, leader of the bunch. As the daughter of parents in the ministry, Stacy spent her childhood years in the Memphis area, then Union City, Tennessee, then Paducah, Kentucky, later graduating high school in Monroe, Michigan, before heading back south to college at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. It was at Union that Stacy met the love of her life, Micky, her freshman year of college. They married after graduating college in 1998, and recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Stacy was most proud of her role as wife, a mom to Gentry, Ella, and Nolen, and her involvement at Lindsay Lane Baptist Church. After graduation from Union, Stacy worked at the college as an Enrollment Counselor, leaving there to serve as the College Minister at Englewood Baptist Church. Micky and Stacy moved to Athens in 2005, and Stacy served on staff at Lindsay Lane for 14 years, first as Children’s Choir Coordinator and later as the Communications Director. Her love for singing and children knowing Jesus compelled her to grow the children’s choir ministry to what it is today. Micky and Stacy together led a Connect Group at the church for the past 17 years. Stacy also led women’s bible studies in her home, and in recent years began an annual women’s event at the church called “The Gathering.” Stacy was a joy to be around, and those who knew her always felt seen and loved. She was always thinking of others and how to best serve them, and rarely missed an opportunity to volunteer to help someone with a need. Whether making a meal for a friend or inviting a new neighbor to church, Stacy left a lasting impression everywhere she went. Stacy loved to travel and, following her cancer diagnosis in 2019, took life by the horns and chose to make as many memories with her family as possible. From skydiving in Maui to swimming with pigs in Exuma, or riding a hot air balloon in California, Stacy never let a moment pass by without taking in the beauty and finding the “rose” each day. Throughout her treatment, Stacy would take chemo bags to those she met while in her own chemo treatments, and always focused on others and how she could help ease their discomfort and encourage them. This passion led her to found the Stacy Wolfe Breast Cancer Foundation February 2, 2022, which seeks to “support, encourage, and meet immediate needs of cancer patients and their families.” Stacy can be described as joyful, positive, supportive, hospitable, thoughtful, and giving. But more than anything, Stacy wanted to be remembered as a follower of Jesus. And that she did. She followed him faithfully until He chose to bring her home to Him. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched, and the world will see her testimony live on through all she touched. Stacy knew who she was and whose she was, and her diagnosis never swayed her hope in ultimate healing. “They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust in the Lord to care for them.” Psalm 112:7. Stacy was preceded in death by Albert and Glenda Wolfe, Herbert Nolen, Edward Glynn and Antoinette (Crocker) Foren. Stacy is survived by husband Micky, children Gentry, Ella, and Nolen; paternal grandmother (Carolyn Nolen); parents (Mike and Jackie Nolen); sisters Holly (Brian) Sabbadini, Wendy (Zach) Hill, and Amy (Kevin) Little, many nieces, nephews, and additional family. Officiants will be Andy John King, Dusty McLemore, and Mike Nolen (father). Pall bearers will be Cody Gross, Chad Hall, Chris Lindsey, Jamie Wolfe, Scotty Wolfe, and Timmy Wolfe. Honorary pall bearers will be Lance Davis, Zach Hill, Kevin Little, Joshua McLaughlin, Russ Mitchell, and Brian Sabbadini.
