Cartina Barnett

Cartina Barnett, 65, of Elkmont, passed away on Friday, May 16th, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born on May 14th, 1960, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, to Waymon and Joyce Mabry Berryhill. Mrs. Barnett's memory is cherished by her family, including cousins Sharon Pagel (Barry), Jamie Hines (Karen), Melanie Braswell (Norman), Shawn Estes (Lydia), Garey Yocom (Joan), Barbara Trapp, Richard Moore (Lois), Larry Moore (Connie), Bob Moore, Mario Moore (Angela), Ginger Moore, Susan Wilson (Alan), Ivan Fisher, and Danny Fisher. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Billy Barnett and Carl Barnett (Alex); sister-in-law Linda Scott (John); nieces Ginger McMeans (Sam), Tracie Runions (Chris), Becky Patrick, and Patricia Fenton (Stuart); nephew Benji Barnett (Shannon); great-nephews Will, Eli, and Aiden; great-nieces Shelbie, Avery, and Grayson; and great-great-niece Maddi. Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by her parents, husband Royce Ray Barnett, grandparents Alvin and Nettie Berryhill, and Lester and Louise Mabry; aunts Sylvia Short and Bonnie Fisher; cousins Bill Moore and Greg Moore; parents-in-law Grady and Emma Lee Barnett; sister-in-law Mary Barnett; nephew Brian Patrick; aunts Betty Yocom and Madonna Estes; and uncle Bill Mabry. Funeral services for Mrs. Barnett will be held on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025, at 11:00 am at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Minister Jason Pagel officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday from 5:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Legg Cemetery. Mrs. Barnett graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin and pursued a career as a microbiologist. Her love for music was evident in her passion for singing and playing the piano in church, where she was known as a gifted musician. She was a loyal friend and a beloved family member, with a special affection for her dogs, Beau and Brinn. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was dedicated to sharing it with others. Through life's challenges, she credited her strength and perseverance to her faith in God. Those who knew her were touched by her kindness and warmth. She will be sorely missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
