Charles “Charlie” Melvin Holt, II, age 37, passed away February 15, 2010 at Decatur General Hospital with his family by his side. He was born to Charles Melvin and Patricia Ann Brooks Holt on July 17, 1972 in Athens, Alabama.
Charlie is preceded in death by his father, Charles Holt and grandparents, Bob and Anna Will Holt and Fred Brooks.
Charlie attended the Birdie Thornton Center and the Elkmont Church of Christ. He was loved by many friends and family and touched the hearts and lives of all who met him. Charlie loved his church, Alabama Football, all Elkmont sports and listening to country music. His favorite past-time was coloring and working in the Birdie Thornton Center Workshop.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel. The funeral will be Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Limestone Chapel at 1:30 p.m. with Steve Ferguson and Bill Irby officiating. Interment will be at Hodges Cemetery in Pettusville.
Charlie is survived by his mother, Patricia Ann Holt of Athens; Grandmother, Estelle Brooks of Athens; Sisters: Charlsa Greenhaw of Athens; Sherry Murphy of Athens; Teresa Holt of Decatur; Vickie Thornton of Elkmont, Cindy Adams of Florence and Beth Major of Canton, GA. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, and his long-time special friend and caregiver, Connie Wooldridge.
Pallbearers will be: Kevin Greenhaw, James Thornton, Ryan Murphy, Chad Greenhaw, Alex Adams, Steve Bates and Jeff Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nieces and Nephews: Stacey Townsend, Amanda Rikard, Alisha Howell, Allison Murphy, Anna Adams, and Carly and Colin Major.
